National Trust Pistil Meadow

Pistil Meadow, or Pistol Meadow, is thought to be the burial site of over 200 people who perished when the Royal Anne troop ship sank in the off-lying reefs in 1720. Tradition stated that troops would be denied a Christian burial and they were instead placed in a mass grave.

To reach Pistil Meadow, start at the Lizard Point car park and join the South West Coast Path and continue walking until you reach the steps that lead down to the Pistil Meadow site.

Enjoy a scenic walk through this historic part of the Lizard Peninsula…
